Abstrect

In this chapter, several infections are discussed that occur particularly in hematological patients. It is important to recognize these infections, as some of them elicit special changes in hematological parameters. Some viruses have transforming properties. Other infections belong to the group of opportunistic infections common in immunosuppressed patients. The vast group of infections caused by bacteria and fungi is not discussed here, but is covered in Chapter 3 (supportive therapy).
