Hand-Assisted Left Colectomy
The benefits of laparoscopic colectomy over open colectomy for colorectal disease including colon cancer have been firmly established by a number of prospective randomized-controlled trials. The hand-assisted technique offers additional advantages, making it a useful tool in the surgeon’s armamentarium. This chapter lays out the authors’ step-by-step systematic approach to hand-assisted left colectomy.
