Abstract
Repair of urethral diverticula begins with an accurate assessment and diagnosis. Preoperative staging should consist of adequate radiographic staging usually consisting of MRI. The most common treatment for urethral diverticula is surgical excision. This is most commonly performed through a transvaginal approach. It is important to surgically excise as much of the diverticular sac as possible intraoperatively and confirm a watertight closure of the urethra. Results of surgical repair are usually excellent but long term recurrence of these lesions may occur.
