Transforming Imagery into Art: A Study of the Life and Work of Georgia O’Keeffe
Chapter
Abstract
Rosemary Gordon (1970) noted that art serves as a means of communicating private imagery and stated that art is “the most adequate way of giving substance to images” (p. 78). This paper traces the role that imagery processes played in the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe demonstrating that the artist’s drawings and paintings did give “substance” to her images.
