Comparative Analysis of UWB Underground Data Collected Using Step-Frequency, Short Pulse and Noise Waveforms
Chapter
Abstract
One of the important questions in UWB underground radar systems is the choice of waveform. Clearly one must transmit and receive an electromagnetic signal with a large bandwidth in the frequency band below approximately 800 MHz to penetrate the ground, but the choice of the waveform is often determined by other considerations than underground propagation conditions such as cost and reduction of interference from (or to) other users of this crowded frequency band.
