Abstract

Far too much worthwhile work has been done on commutative semigroups to be exposed in some detail in one book. This chapter is a brief survey of topics which are not covered by other chapters. As noted in the Preface, some subjects have been omitted: partially ordered semigroups; varieties and pseudovarieties; factorization theory; and semigroup rings.
