Chapter
Abstract
In preceding chapters we discussed the appearance of stars and stellar systems and we looked in some detail at the immediate surroundings of the sun, the one star to which we have easy access. Now we want to examine the environment in which the sun, the stars, and the stellar systems are embedded. We want to learn about the properties of the universe.
