Abstract

The organizers of this conference were perhaps subconsciously aware that the discussion of proton stability started at about the same time as the concept of the neutrino, 50 years ago. During most of the half century since Weyl, Stückelberg and Wigner first postulated proton stability, nearly everybody believed in it as an absolute truth.1
