Activated Mass Flow: Surface Flow
Abstract
A number of other theories of translocation have been put forward, starting from the view that certain features of phloem raise difficulties or unresolved questions for the Münch hypothesis, and that therefore something “better” (or more elaborate) is required to explain the process of translocation. At the moment it is not clear that these features can either be accommodated in the Münch hypothesis, or failing this, be explained away as preparative artefacts. But equally, it is not clear that these difficulties are serious enough, and well enough established as real, to rule out the Münch hypothesis and demand a feasible alternative. The verdict would still seem to be “not-proven”.
