169Tm Mössbauer Study of TmCu2Si2
Chapter
Abstract
Until now, the only detailed crystal electric field (CEF) information available for the tetragonal RCu2Si2 (R=rare earth) series has been that obtained recently for CeCu2Si2 by means of neutron diffraction measurements1. In order to obtain the CEF parameters for a heavy rare earth compound we have measured the quadrupole splitting, ΔEQ, of the 169Tm, 8.4 keV Mössbauer resonance in TmCu2Si2 over the temperature range 1.5–400 K.
