The Reactions of Oxygen and Hydrogen with Liquid Sodium - A Critical Survey
Chapter
Abstract
The importance of the sodium-water reaction for the second circuit of a fast reactor induced many authors to investigate the interactions of oxygen, hydrogen and their compounds such as water vapour or hydroxide with liquid sodium. The results are used for the development of effective cleaning processes of sodium, for measures to prevent corrosion and mass transfer, for the correction of the reading of measuring devices for hydrogen and oxygen concentrations in sodium, and, finally, for the production of sodium and its compounds.
