The northern right whale dolphin, Lissodelphis borealis (Peale), is one of the least known delphinids of the eastern Pacific. Since originally described (Peale, 1848), there have been only 32 additional records from the eastern Pacific added to the literature (Table I). These published accounts represent 16 sightings at sea, ten beach strandings, and six collections. Very little has been published on the biology, behavior, and distribution of this species.
