Abstract
The cobra is a common snake throughout Asia and Africa. There are at least twelve cobra species in six genera; most of them are found in Africa, and only two species, Naja naja and Ophiophagus hannah, are present in Asia. However, many subspecies of Naja naja have been recognized in different parts of Asia, except Japan, Korea, and northern China (see Table I).
