On the Theory of Macroscopic Anisotropy Phenomena in Type-II Superconductors

  • H. Teichler

Abstract

The interrelationships between macroscopic anisotropy phenomena in the mixed state of monocrystalline type-II superconductors and the microscopic anisotropics of the superconducting electron system are discussed. In particular a recent theory of Hc2 anisotropy in metals with low or moderate impurity content at arbitrary temperatures below Tc is considered. According to this theory the anisotropy of the energy gap of the pure material and details of the electron band structure anisotropy may be deduced from investigations of the temperature and impurity dependence of Hc2 anisotropy. In addition, a nonlocal theory of preferential orientations of the flux line lattice relative to the crystal lattice is presented.
