Abstract

Nerve tissue consists of numerous varieties of neurons which are structurally and functionally supported by glial cells of several different types. Other associated cells include ependymal cells (lining ventricular cavities), satellite cells (sensory and autonomic ganglia), and Schwann cells (peripheral nerve myelin).
