Assessment of Bragg Imaging and the Importance of its Various Components by Comparison with Radiographic Imaging

Abstract

Ultrasonic imaging by Bragg diffraction of light, first demonstrated by Korpel (1966), may have applications in medical diagnosis. With this in mind, a group of researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara have performed various investigations using Bragg imaging at the low frequencies (1 MHz to 5 MHz) required for clinical use (see Landry, et al., 1972 and Hormozdyar, et al., 1974).
