Nonlinear Optical Phenomena in Single Micron-Size Droplets

  • Richard K. Chang

Abstract

In spite of the short interaction lengths in micron-size spheres, nonlinear optical effects can be readily observed. The curved liquid-air interface modifies the internal electromagnetic distributions of the incident radiation (assumed to be a plane wave) and of the internally generated nonlinear optical radiation described through the nonlinear source polarization (PNLS ).
