The Composition of Gallstones

Abstract

Gallstones consist of a wide range of shapes, sizes, colours and textures, and these properties are a reflection of the composition of the stones. Gallstones contain both crystalline and amorphous material, but the former usually constitutes the bulk of the stone by weight and will be considered first.
