Standard Setting for Air Pollutants
Chapter
Abstract
The US has granted the EPA the authority to set standards for air pollutants in ambient air. The EPA was formed in 1970 and, since that time, has set standards for various environmental agents including air pollution. Up to that time, individual states had various requirements but there was no national effort to impose a single standard for clean air.
