Repetitive Decision Systems Information: Tell Me What’s Happening in the Organization

  • Melvin Silverman

Abstract

The company was the hydraulic controls division of Monolith Industries. Tony Ogard, the new general manager, was sitting in his office. He was trying to make sense of the reports that he had received from the division controller through the interoffice mail. He couldn’t understand what they were all about, and the instructions that accompanied them didn’t seem to be consistent. He picked up his phone and asked Sam Greenshades, the controller, to meet with him that day. Later in the afternoon, at the exact time scheduled for the meeting, Sam came in and sat down.
