Microprocessors for Signal and Image Processing
Chapter
Abstract
Digital signal microprocessors appeared in the early 1980s. These devices are able to perform extremely fast multiplications and additions. This ability is particularly beneficial for tasks that require repetitive calculations — e.g., filtering, speech and handwriting recognition, and image processing and enhancement.
