Solitons In Long Josephson Junctions With Inhomogeneities

Abstract

The motion of magnetic flux quanta in long Josephson junctions has been studied intensively in the last decade and became a very interesting area of both theoretical and experimental soliton physics. In a long Josephson junction (LJJ) a magnetic flux quantum (fluxon) corresponds to a soliton solution of the perturbed sine-Gordon equation:
