Abstract

What is known of the spectrum of disease caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis comes from the study of published reports of sporadic cases, reviews of clinical experience of individual medical centers in endemic areas, from cooperative studies of investigators combining their experiences, and from studies of a few point-source outbreaks of blastomycosis. To this, the authors add their personal experience in diagnosis and treatment of patients with this disease.
