Short-Time Transport Properties in Colloids
Chapter
Abstract
We provide a method to perform transport properties, induced by an external field, in concentrated colloids at short-times. Hydrodynamic and direct interactions are considered. The idea is based in the appropriate choice of a slow variable, which multiplied by the external field is a contribution to the Hamiltonian of the colloid. We show that the transport coefficient, induced by the external field, is proportional to a generalized hydrodynamic function for very small wave vectors. To perform the generalized hydrodynamic function we assume that the time evolution of the slow variable is provided by the Smoluchowski equation.
