Dimension

Abstract

We now turn to the problem of measuring the “size” of algebraic varieties by assigning them a “dimension” We first introduce a very general concept of dimension which, we eventually see,provides a :natural” measure of the size of a varity and which in special cases agrees with usual concepts of dimension.
