Abstract
In this growing field, the physiatrist’s role has evolved to be the team leader prior to the amputation and continued throughout the patient’s life. It is most important to convey the patient’s needs and functional level in creating the prosthesis to ensure a highly functioning amputee. In addition, it is necessary to manage the patient’s comorbidities to enhance the patient’s quality of life and preserve the residual limb (Fig. 15.1).
