Methods of Quantitative Analysis

  • Eugene P. Bertin

Abstract

This chapter and the next are devoted to more or less general methods and techniques of x-ray spectrometric analysis. Determinations of specific elements in specific materials are cited only to illustrate such methods and techniques. Liebhafsky and his coauthors [pp. 535-49 in (27)] list 66 elements, plus the lanthanons as a group, and for each cite many literature references for its x-ray spectrometric determination. For some elements, the references are classified by specimen type—metals and alloys, cement materials, minerals and ores, slags, organics, etc. The bibliography has 362 references. Similar listings and bibliographies are given in the biennial reviews in Analytical Chemistry (53) and in each quarterly issue of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry Abstracts beginning with volume 4 (1973).
