Abstract

We discuss some new experimental results on virtual high energy photoproduction of heavy quarks on nuclei. Virtual photons are produced by the scattering of high energy muons, the momentum and energy spectrum of the photons is given by QED. The photoproduction cross section for heavy quarks is found to be small. Thus dense and long targets of several meter length as well as high intensity muon beams are used.
