Abstract
There is hardly any aspect of industrial, commercial, or social life unaffected by the development of telecommunications. With the continued advance of the technology and the explosive growth in new products and the service industry, commerce and society will become ever more dependent on telecommunications. But the determination of telecommunications needs, the design of systems, the procurement of the hardware and software and its commissioning remain essentially tasks with lone lead times.
