Optical Effects of Grain Boundaries in PLZT Ceramics
Chapter
Abstract
In this paper, the grain boundary movement during grain growth and the effects of grain boundaries on the optical and electro-optical properties of the PLZT ceramics will be presented with emphases on the following aspects:
- 1.
Method of preparation of grain-grown specimens.
- 2.
Quantitative stereology of PLZT ceramics with different grain size distributions by using a Quantimet 900, Micro Image Automatic Quantitative Analyser.
- 3.
Grain boundary migration during grain growth and other grain boundary phenomena.
- 4.
Electro-optical observations and electro-optical property measurements of the PLZT specimens and the role of grain boundaries on these properties will be discussed.
