On the QCD β-Function
Chapter
Abstract
After presenting evidence to indicate that the pseudo-fermion method is able to incorporate the effects of the dynamical fermions rather well, I describe our results for the β-function of QCD with three flavours of light dynamical quarks, obtained by using the improved ratio method. The β-function appears to have a dip at 6/g 2 ≃ 5.6 and the deviations from asymptotic scaling appear to be small already for 6/g 2 ≥ 5.3. The possible sources of the dip structure are discussed.
