Database Research and Development in Japan: Its Past, Present and Future
Chapter
Abstract
This paper investigates the present, past, and future of database research and development in Japan. The world-wide activities of database research and development is first overviewed, and then the survey of database activities in Japan is made extensively. As in USA and Europian countries, Japan has also recognized that databases are essentially important to build information systems for every type of applications such as business and non-business data processing.
