Cutaneous Surgery

Abstract

Cutaneous surgery is a major part of most dermatologic practices. The dermatologist performs diagnostic skin biopsies, elective cosmetic excision of benign lesions, and removal of skin cancers. Several techniques—punch biopsy, shave excision, curettage and cautery—are used daily by the dermatologist but are rarely employed by other surgeons.
