Therapeutic Approaches to Bone Cancer Pain

  • Chapter
Bone Metastases

Abstract

Pain is one of the major symptoms of bone cancer. In 1984, 19 million cancer patients around the world suffered pain (Elliot and Foley, 1989). The prevalence of cancer pain is an important problem, as 30% of patients receiving curative treatment and 70% of patients with palliative care suffer pain because of the progression of the tumour (Greenwald et al, 1987).
