Abstract
Blended families give rise to lots of challenges, estate planning among them. There is an inherent tension between providing for your spouse, your children from a prior relationship, your spouse’s children, and joint children. Often added to the mix are other agreements you’ve made, such as a separation agreement or prenuptial agreement. Finally, you don’t want your plan to create such confusion or discord that the lawyers are called in. Careful thought is needed to defuse a potential family explosion.
