Abstract

Firebird supports both fixed (exact precision) decimal and floating-point (approximate precision) number types. Fixed decimal types are the zero-scaled integer types SMALLINT, INTEGER and, in dialect 3, BIGINT, and two nearly identical scaled numeric types, NUMERIC and DECIMAL. The two floating-point types are FLOAT (single precision) and DOUBLE PRECISION.1
