From Drawing Board to Database
Chapter
Abstract
A Database, of course, stores data. However, data alone has no use unless it is stored according to some rules that first capture its meaning and value, and secondly allow it to be retrieved consistently. A database having an existence within the context of a database management system (DBMS), such as Firebird, comprises a lot of “things” besides data.
