Abstract
Programmes and Funds. Social and economic development, aimed at achieving a better life for people everywhere, is a major part of the UN system of organizations. At the forefront of efforts to bring about such progress is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. In 2010–11, 150 countries were working with UNDP to implement 323 projects representing a total investment of US$5•2bn. in environmental and sustainable development priorities in these countries.
