Abstract
Feminists and many women who would not call themselves feminists insist that discussions of pregnancy and childbirth are discussions about women: women’s lives, women’s health, women’s right to control our own bodies. It is perfectly clear to us that the health and well-being of offspring depends fundamentally on women’s health and well-being, which in turn depends on adequate primary health care, nutrition, standards of living, and life-respecting, woman-respecting social relations.
