Abstract

Since monetary policy is one particular aspect of over-all macroeconomic policy, it will be useful to begin with some general comments on macroeconomic policy. These will be followed, in Chapter 11, by a discussion of the instruments of monetary policy. A description of recent U.K. monetary policy will conclude the discussion.
