Typical DVM (Digital Voltmeter) Design
Chapter
Abstract
A DVM (Digital Voltmeter) is a multimeter with digital display. It is an ubiquitous item of test equipment that measures voltage, current and resistance. A variety of signal ranges can be selected, and both ac and dc signals can be measured. Some designs are battery-driven and portable, other are mains-driven and desk-mounted. Digital instruments offer the advantage of much higher input impedances compared with their analogue forerunners, for example the ‘Avometer’, for voltage measurements.
