Progress and Extensions of Time
Chapter
Abstract
Some of the fiercest disputes on building contracts arise out of delays in completion. More often than not, all of the various parties will be involved: employer, professional team, main contractor and sub-contractors, all vigorously blaming each other for the delay whilst proclaiming their own innocence. There are usually only two incontrovertible facts: that the building is late and that it will cost someone a great deal of money. The key questions are, of course, why, who and how much? The purpose of this chapter is to answer those questions in relation to sub-contracts.
