Abstract

The central theme of this book is the prospect for East-West economic relations over the next decade. But the authors cover wider ground. Diagnosis must precede prognosis so part of the work is devoted to analysis of recent developments and of the nature of the pressing problems on which new thinking is needed. East-West relations are studied in the context of the recent and possible future course of the world economy as a whole. Some chapters deal mainly with the problems of economic order in the West and on the need for more effective international action by governments, both East and West, to clear the road for better balanced growth.
