Contrasting Forms of Youth Training and Employment in Sweden and FR Germany

Abstract
In most Western countries the youth unemployment rate is high, much higher than the total unemployment rate. Germany and Sweden are two exceptions to the rule. In FR Germany, the youth rate is less than the overall unemployment rate. In Sweden the youth rate is higher than the total one, but both the youth and the overall rates are low by international standards and the difference between them is smaller than in most other countries (Table 1.1, above).
