Abstract
With no fewer than four German-speaking countries to choose from, there is every possibility you can imagine for a holiday. The first passage below is a post-card from someone on holiday in Austria. Then there is an extract from a brochure persuading you to visit Ulm in the southern part of the Bundesrepublik. The report from the GDR is about a different sort of holiday. It is quite popular in the GDR for families to spend their holiday at a holiday home run by a trade union. The last passage is a letter from someone wanting to book at a hotel in Switzerland — holidays in all four German-speaking countries are represented here.
