Abstract

Standard hot rolled sections are produced in three grades of steel — 43, 50 and 55. These numbers, when multiplied by 10, give the maximum tensile strength of the steel in newtons per square millimetre (N/mm2). By adding chromium and copper to grade 50 steel during manufacture, a weather-resistant steel is produced, which does not require a protective coating.
