Abstract

Whereas malignancies of the proximal three-fourths of the transverse colon require excision of the right and transverse colon, cancers of the distal transverse colon, splenic flexure, descending colon, and sigmoid are treated by left hemicolectomy(Figs. 44-1,44-2).
