User modeling and architecture in industrial ITSs
Abstract
In this paper some results of the work involved in a collaborative project, Intelligent Tutoring Systems in Industrial Environments ITSIE, are presented. Its purpose is to develop a general framework in which intelligent training systems can be easily developed.
Based upon actual training processes in the particular domain of the fuel oiled power plants, the general behavior of the Tutor has been identified together with the requirements for user modeling and Tutor architecture.
User modeling has been approached by means of an overlay technique including a record of the most recent and most characteristic errors. The Tutor presents a modular architecture as a way to tackle different functionalities.
