Transition metal complexes of sterically demanding cyclopentadienyl ligands

  • Jun Okuda
Part of the Topics in Current Chemistry book series (TOPCURRCHEM, volume 160)

Abstract

The present review summarizes recent developments in the design of selected cyclopentadienyl ligands that contain at least two sterically demanding substituents at the ring periphery and the use of these ligands in organotransition metal chemistry. General features concerning ligand synthesis, complexation reactions, structure, and reactivity of the complexes as well as their application are reviewed. Special emphasis is put on the description of unusual interligand interactions, conformational analysis, and the use as stoichiometric reagents and catalyst precursors in transition metal-mediated transformation of organic molecules.
