Optical four-wave mixing in pbte epitaxial layers
Abstract
Optical four-wave mixing of the beams of two CO2 lasers was observed in n-PbTe epitaxial films on BaF2 substrates. We found four kinds of resonances:
a) Quantum oscillations of the nonparabolicity induced mixing; b) spin resonances; c) cyclotron resonances and d) combined cyclotron and spin resonances of the nonlinear susceptibility.
Due to the narrow linewidth of the resonances of a few hundred Gauss we obtained very precise data on the effective g-values, effective masses and anisotropy of the conduction band of PbTe. These data are compared with results from adjusting the six-band parameters to account for interband magneto-absorption measurements of Appold et al.
